Types of Navwarns

Region Navwarns

Long range Programmed transmissions by the coordinator of the region. They can cover, in a 24 hour basis, a sea area that can be covered by a fast vessel (almost 700m).

Coastal Navwarns

Programmed transmissions by a national coordinating authority, via the national inshore stations. They cover the country’s sea area.

Local Navwarns

They are notices of a specific area inside the limits of jurisdiction of a port authority.

The language used in the transmission of the notices is English. Local navwarns are excepted. In coastal navwarns both the English and the national language are used.
